Sandpoint Byway Trail
This trail was obtained as part of negotiations between the Idaho Transportation Department and North Idaho Bikeways, Inc. and the cities of Sandpoint and Ponderay. Over a mile long, the trail will run along the edge of Sandcreek as part of the Sandcreek Byway Highway project. Proposed as the “showpiece” of the project it will provide a beautiful nature/bike trail along the creek with trail heads on the south and the north ends. It will connect to the Ponderay Highway 95 Trail and to the Popsickle Bridge paths
to the north, and to the Sagle, Dover, and Pend Oreille Bay Trail to the south.
North Idaho Bikeway’s Inc. was a member of the Sandcreek Byway master plan committee that designed the tail. Construction began in January 2009 and is expected to be completed in 2012.
